If you talk to many senior managers in Kia UK and throughout our dealer network you will find that they started their careers as an Apprentice, learning the principles of automotive engineering and vehicle electronics. An Apprenticeship is an excellent introduction to the motor industry, combining practical hands-on work experience in the dealership with intensive learning at our specialist Apprentice training facility in Watford. But it’s more than that. An Apprenticeship gives people a thorough induction to the Kia brand at an early stage and instills in them the importance of delivering service excellence to our customers. These are important qualities for future career development.

Kia has selected Skillnet to manage the Kia Apprenticeship Programme. Skillnet is the leading provider of Apprenticeship Programmes in the UK automotive industry, with a proven track record of success.
 
Skillnet will match you with a suitable Kia dealership. We will work with you to identify the type of Apprenticeship you are looking for and then arrange for you to meet the Kia dealership closest to you. Once you have been offered a job we will organise your training programme and support you right through your studies. You will learn new skills by carrying out practical work at your dealership and through attending theory and practical training sessions at the Kia Academy Training Centre in Watford. A member of the Skillnet team will be assigned to you and will visit you regularly in your workplace to guide you throughout your Apprenticeship.

Training on Kia equipment
All Apprentices learn their skills on Kia vehicles using state-of-the-art Kia diagnostic tools and equipment so they’re familiar with the same vehicles and systems in the dealership.

Kia technical training courses included
As a Kia apprentice you will finish your 3 years of training with a Level 2 and a Level 3 NVQ, technical certificates and key skills qualifications. In addition the apprenticeship also covers many of the course modules required of a Kia Service and Maintenance Technician. This places you in a strong position to progress rapidly to becoming a Kia Diagnostic Technician.

High retention rates
Arguably the biggest measure of our Apprenticeship Programme’s success is the high retention rate. Around 85% of Apprentices who join our Apprentice Programme complete the course.

We hold an annual Apprentice of the Year Awards event where we recognise the highest achievers in every year who have shown outstanding commitment and personal motivation throughout their project work.
